How to Fix Brother Printer Error 46?

Error 46 is one of the most common issues in Brother Printer. It occurs when your ink absorber is full. Ink absorber is a sponge-like pad which soaks excess ink. But sometimes your printer may display this error even when the ink absorber is not full. By using the purge counter the printer tries to decide whether the ink absorber is full or not. Sometimes, it might not decide correctly and flash the error 46. To resolve this issue you need to reset purge counter. Brother printer customer support is here to help you with this issue. Steps to troubleshoot error 46:
First, you have to put your printer in maintenance mode. Steps to do so:
Remove the power cord from the printer.
Press the menu button. If you don’t have a menu button, then press the start or set button.
Keep pressing the button and at the same time connect the power plug to the printer.
Now your printer will flash maintenance mode.
Now that you have put the printer into maintenance mode, you can reset the purge counter. To do so follow the steps given below:
If your printer has a number keypad:
First, type 80 on the keypad
Scroll through the options using the down key arrow to look for purge option and its number.
Now, you have to enter number 2783 and the number next to purge.
To get back to the maintenance mode menu press stop or exit.
Finish the process by restarting the printer.
If your printer doesn’t have number keypad:
After the printer is set to maintenance mode, scroll through options using the arrow eyes and press enter when you reach number 8.
Then you will see a list. Scroll through it and press enter when you see the word purge.
Press Ok then enter 2,7,8,3 to reset purge counter.
